Unbecoming

My series "Unbecoming" exists in the liminal space, where transformation is not about becoming something new but remembering who we have always been. It is a cyclical pattern rather than a linear ascent. Layers dissolve like memories eroded by time, revealing an essence long obscured. The organic, fluid textures mirror the psyche’s unraveling—beliefs, identities, and imposed narratives peeling away. I look to depict the rawness of metamorphosis—the shedding, blossoming, multiplying, contracting, rapturing, flowing, expanding, cracking, peeling, bubbling, sprouting—the exquisite discomfort of returning to the core.

I seek out shapes that feel familiar at first glance, but the longer you look, the more uncertain you become of what you're seeing. Much like the way we think we know ourselves—until we realize we don’t.

I'm also exploring the dynamic between the viewer and the object, using distance to create a sense of intimacy.
